Service Venue
I work from any venue that families want me to, there will be several factors to conscider when chosing a venue for the service;
-
Location - is it easy to get to for the majority of those who will attend?
-
Availalbility - if you have a set date in mind you may have to be prepared to travel to a venue that is available.
-
Cost - whilst the most convenient venue may be more expensive, you may save on transport costs from the funeral director.
-
Parking / public transport links - does the venue have adequate parking, is it services by public transport?
-
Numbers - how many people do you think will come?
-
Time - how long do you want the service to be?
-
Remote viewing - do you want a live stream of the service so others who cant be there in person can watch the service?
There is no doubt that crematoriums offer convenience and many have a range of facilies available, I have listed most of the local crematoriums below, however - many people are not aware that you can hold the service wherever you want!
Here are just a few examples of where services have been delivered for families:
In a barn
The coffin was taken to the barn by the funeral directors, I delivered a service and then the coffin was taken to a natural burialground for a private commital service, we returned to the barn where afternoon tea was taken.
In a pub garden
The coffin was taken to the pub by the funeral directors, a service took place and then the coffin was taken to a local crematorium for a private commital service before returning to the pub for the wake.
At the family home
The coffin was taken to the house by the funeral directors, a service took place in a marquee in the garden and then the coffin was taken to a local crematorium for a private commital service before returning to the home for the wake.
There are endless possibilities and many advantages to having a bespoke service, speak to your local funeral director and they will be happy to accomodate your requests - if they dont, change your funeral director!
